'Destiny of destruction.' Hmmph... Perhaps there's little sense holding concern over what may not come to pass.

I wonder all the same whether it would ever be worth returning home, even... if I had the choice.

[As Vincent tosses the book aside, the image picked up is that of the basement of the Shinra Mansion. Vincent himself can be seen standing in the middle of the room, looking worn out. He's at the Battle Dome mostly because he's in a mindset to revisit the familiar... but also to let off the last of the post-draft monster restlessness. As he's been doing most days since they'd returned. It's more difficult with the monsters' quick-healing not working, but he's managing.]

[Suddenly there's some motion off to the side- a couple of bats which Vincent shoots down quickly. The image shakes some. A much larger, more bizarre creature soon appears, and Vincent springs into action at once. He transforms in an instant, turning into the form of Galian Beast and attacking before the image finally cuts out.]

[While Jay is contemplating Vincent's cryptic message, he'll be trying to watch what he can from the video. And then he'll leave his own message.]

"Destiny of destruction?"

Of course it'll be worth returning home!

[And he sounds insistent on that one.]

[When Vincent gets a chance, in between that enemy and the next scenario he's planned, he picks up the book and considers his reply a moment.]

...What if you knew that returning home would endanger your world?

[This has been on his mind since he's gotten those reports a couple month ago, but it's especially bothering him lately again.]

Then try doing something about it. If you haven't endangered this world, how can you endanger your own world?

It's more complicated than that.

I suppose it would be up to you then. As for me, I will get home someday.

Perhaps I would need more information about the circumstances to be certain, but what I know isn't encouraging.

[He might get around to explaining further sometime, but for now...]

Is there... something important you want to return for?

[He's curious, but he also knows about not wanting to share personal details. Maybe he'll share his sometime, too.]

Yes...several things.

There's much we've all left behind... for that reason, I understand why it's important to return. None of us belong here.

[And being a test subject is obviously never something he's going to exactly be comfortable with. Which is why he definitely isn't making these considerations lightly.]

"Left behind?" More like we were torn away from it all.

[And he's definitely bitter about that.]

[Does he ever understand the bitter feelings.]

Torn away... with no knowing if or when we'll return.

... What's that about, Vincent?

...Some information I came across a little while ago.

[He pauses as he lets himself fully reorient after transforming and picks up the journal to stare at it. And throw up a filter while he's at it.]

Have you ever heard of someone or something called... Omega?

[Filtering is good. Lightning's death at the end of the draft did a number on her mood, and she isn't liking the sound of this. But Omega rings a bell, even if it's a bit distant now. When she talked to the Planet to summon Holy...]

... A last resort ... If Meteor came, there was a way to gather up the Lifestream before Sephiroth could.

[Of course at the end of things humanity and the Planet itself would still be wiped out, so that hadn't exactly satisfied Aerith.]

[Considering the reports do mention a connection to a Cetra legend... he realizes he should have asked her a while ago. But he also didn't want to trouble her, and even now would prefer not to burden her unnecessarily.]

[...At least he's getting a distinct impression it's not some person who will show up randomly.]

Then... there would have to be some threat to the Planet for it to... activate? It wouldn't do so naturally?

It shouldn't, not just on its own. If Omega appears, the Planet dies.

My gift, from the Malnosso were a series of reports.

According to those reports, Chaos... is meant to someday purge the world of life and send it to the Lifestream... for Omega.

But... Chaos is inside you... [Her eyes widen at first before she shakes her head.] Of course it's worth it for you to come back home! No one is meant to stay here. A destiny of destruction... that's just stupid! There has to be something you can do.

[She stops, breathing faster than normal; she told Lightning there had to be a way to stop her brand too.]

...Things like "fate" and "destiny"... Why can't we just live freely?

There are always forces outside our control.

[Sighs lightly. He knows that he at least has some warning about what might happen, which is better than nothing, but part of him wonders whether he'd have been better off not knowing.]

[Vincent, you are just a ray of sunshine. But he's right, too. After pressing her lips together, Aerith simply nods.]

Still... as long as people care for the Planet, it shouldn't die for a long, long time.

I'll trust your word.

[If anyone would know, it would be Aerith... and the Planet has been through so much already...]

[It's a pretty big condition--people haven't been caring for the Planet before--but Aerith does trust that.

...And...Vincent trusting her makes her happy, her expression easing with a small smile.] If I can find a way to help protect the Planet, too... trust me, I'll do it.

I know you will.

[He says this as solemnly and seriously as ever.]

You can never be too sure. I could've decided to kick back and enjoy myself. [Of course that's the last thing she wants to do--she doesn't even want to be dead--so it's said a bit wryly, but at least the humor is there.

[It takes a moment for the joking part to sink in, but it does eventually.]

...I suppose anything is possible.

Mm. And I suppose you just know me too well to buy that now. [Vincent, so serious. But ... she's feeling a little better now. And she's hoping that he is too.]

By now... of course.

[He does, actually. It's finally settled something that's been nagging at his mind for a few months now.]

...Vincent?

[There's fighting noises and occasionally the image of the monsters fighting, but eventually Vincent finishes it off and returns to human form. He picks up the journal.]

Terra...?

I heard what you said, earlier....

[Pause.]

I hope that's not your fate.

[And since they'd spoken of this before a couple months back...]

I've been over the information in an attempt to understand... but I draw the same conclusion every time. That fate appears inevitable if I ever return home.

[Unless he were sealed away in his coffin again, but some part of him does realize hiding away like that isn't the answer.]

[She sighs.]

There's nothing that can be done, at all? But....

I can only hope to remain here as long as possible... or gain more information before I ever return.

I want to help. I don't know how I can, but I'd like to find a way.

...If I ever lose control over Chaos... promise me you'll stop him.

[It's about all he can think of at the moment.]

[Long pause.]

I hope it never comes to that, but...

...I will.

[For the most part, Vincent is in some control, enough that he can hold back from a real berserk rampage. He's... pretty sure the difference would be obvious if it ever came to happen. But is also hoping it won't.]

Are you going to remain at the dome for a while?

I will be.

[He's still got some restlessness to get out of his system.]

Well, I was thinking of visiting....

[You know, if he doesn't midn the company.]

I'll wait before I start again.

[Which means, no, he doesn't mind.]
