[Another day, another Hojo.]

[The shifting and often disturbing scenery has been bad enough. The way this whole thing started was bad enough. Vincent has been encountering his nemesis everywhere, but this time has gone beyond the bounds of sanity. There's the sound of water running in the background and then Hojo's maniacal laughter. Finally, Vincent speaks up, less than amused.]

What is the true purpose of this experiment? To revisit the past, or to irritate us with enemies we can't hope to defeat?

[A gunshot and a thud follow. THIS time, he had better not reappear.]

Irritating us sounds about right.

[It isn't as if they are hard to defeat in Ch'rell's case, it's that they keep appearing over and over again and refuse to stay away.]

This would almost be tolerable if the enemies didn't... constantly reappear.

[Seriously, enough is enough, especially when your main enemy has a laugh like... that.]

I quite agree. I hope this little stunt is over with soon.

We'll have a weeks' duration or less... if we're lucky. Their patterns occasionally change.

[Enough that things can't be counted on as entirely predictable, though mostly so.]

Yes... I assume you're encountering multiple copies of your world's enemies as well?

Yes...enemies from my world, as well as other worlds. And not only enemies, but even the landscape here is changing.

Scenery from home and memories... and scenery I don't recognize. As if pieces of our worlds were transported here.

[Although he knows none of it can possibly be real, it's all some product of their Shifting technology somehow.]

I do not know. [Goemon has his arms folded across his chest, his brow deeply furrowed with disapproval. It seems the Fuma ninja have ceased to come at him and Jigen, at least for the time being, offering him a moment to sit still; but he is all too wary of lowering his guard even briefly.] For all our sakes, I hope this madness will end soon.

As do I. Fighting the same battle endlessly... becomes tedious before very long.

[That and the laughter. Why does it have to be Hojo all the time? He'd sooner fight Chaos himself than Hojo.]

Mn. They have not been difficult to subdue... but there have been many.

I've noticed as well. It's more... the repetition than the difficulty. They're apparently regenerating.

[Being rather new, he is still attempting to feel his way through this world and adjust.]

Is this is the work of the Malnosso? [He muses aloud with a tone of stoic calm.]

An experiment... We must live with its effects for its duration. They're rarely longer than a week.

I see. [Keeping his opinion of the Malnosso out of the conversation for the moment, he then adds,] Thank you for the information.

[A simple nod. You're welcome.]

...I assume this is the first experiment you've endured?

[He still remembers well how it felt to be introduced to such madness. One never quite gets used to it, entirely.]

Mn. [He nods in affirmation - and while he wishes this were also the last experience of its kind, he has a nagging feeling that that will not be the case.]

...Unfortunately... they don't improve with time.

[Some of them are even worse.]

[He might have heaved an imperceptible sigh.]

I suspected as much.

All we can do is prepare when the time comes.

[Offering another nod - this time in gratitude and acknowledgment - he then leaves his response at that.]
