A chance to return...

[A pause, along with the sound of water rushing behind him. Vincent has been coming to the Battle Dome ever since that announcement to go to the simulation of the place he wants to truly return to.]

I cannot help but still wonder what price will be paid for such a chance... and whether it's worth the potential risk.

[Not to himself, of course, but to the people and worlds involved.]

I suppose only time will tell for certain.

...There was... an experiment, that turned me into a monster. I've had the ability to transform ever since.

Was this while you were in Luceti, or before you were taken here?

This was before... many years ago. For a long time, all I knew about these creatures was what I experienced from their presence... that was, until I received a gift from home.

[Oh, she is not happy to hear about this. If she had been there...but she had not. It is foolish to consider what might have been long after the time is past.

Her voice sounds controlled when she asks:] What was this gift?

[...He tries not to think about it consciously most of the time, though it's always there in the back of his mind. Arriving here and first learning the truth of the situation was the hardest though.]

As far as I know, Omega and Chaos work... together, in some way. If I can keep Chaos away... then perhaps without Omega...

[But Vincent is always concerned. What if something DOES send Chaos over the edge anyway? What if... someday they experiment and make Chaos falsely activate somehow...?]

We can only hope.

[What a terrible burden to bear. And--] Is there not anyone to aid you with this matter?

I wouldn't burden them with this. It's my own problem to resolve.

[Typical, typical Vincent. He doesn't want to draw the others into his issues.]

[An attitude she can understand all too well, but--this is beyond what a mortal should bear alone.

She gives him a wry look.] I believe the fate of your world is of more concern to more than simply you.

[...But then her expression turns compassionate.]

...You may burden me, whether I have my memories or I do not. I will help in any way I can.

[Vincent looks at her curiously at that one comment about the fate of his world. She's right, of course, and if it came to saving the world, again... well, they would all want to be part of it, wouldn't they? Cloud, Tifa, Cid, everyone.]

...I will keep that in mind. Thank you.

[She shakes her head slightly.] There is no need to thank me.

...And do not think that what you tell me will be too much for me to bear when I am in my unawakened state. I am stronger than most suspect.

[There really is more to her than he'd realized, he's beginning to understand. It's not such a bad thing, though, to learn more about her.]
